Prime Minister Modi Criticizes Congress Over Reservation System and Constitutional Amendments
In a recent speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress party of manipulating the reservation system for political gain, which he claims has harmed the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities. He emphasized that Dr. BR Ambedkar introduced the reservation system to ensure equality and rights for the underprivileged.
During a discussion on the 150 years of the adoption of the Constitution, PM Modi stated that Congress has repeatedly amended the Constitution for self-serving purposes. He highlighted that the Constitution was amended 75 times in nearly six decades, accusing Congress of disrespecting and reducing the importance of the Constitution.
PM Modi also criticized Congress for imposing Article 35-A without parliamentary approval, claiming it was done on the President's orders, keeping the Parliament in the dark. He further alleged that Congress violated its own constitution by choosing Jawaharlal Nehru as Prime Minister over Sardar Patel, despite the majority of Congress committees favoring Patel.
The two-day debate on 75 years of the Constitution began in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
