PM Modi and EAM Jaishankar Attend 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar as he arrived in Bhubaneswar for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. This event, held from January 8 to 10, is a key platform for connecting with the Indian diaspora.
Celebrating Indian Diaspora
The theme for this year's convention is "Diaspora's Contribution to a Viksit Bharat." A large number of Indian diaspora members from over 50 countries have registered to participate. EAM S Jaishankar emphasized the importance of the diaspora, calling it a "living bridge" that connects India to the world.
Special Initiatives
PM Modi will also inaugurate the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train for the Indian diaspora. This train will travel to various destinations of tourism and religious significance in India over three weeks, under the Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana.
Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were present to welcome PM Modi at the Bhubaneswar Airport.
