In New Delhi, Bharatiya Janata Party leader RP Singh expressed strong disapproval of the Canadian government's accusations against India regarding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Singh emphasized the lack of credible evidence, as highlighted by a court in British Columbia, Canada, which rejected the allegations. He questioned how Canada could accuse another nation without solid proof.
Documents from the Justice Department of British Columbia revealed that the four accused in Nijjar's murder are no longer in custody. The accused, Karan Brar, Karanpreet Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, and Amandeep Singh, were charged with murder and conspiracy by Canadian police. However, no evidence linking them to India was provided.
The Ministry of External Affairs in India reiterated that Canada had not shared any specific evidence or formal communication regarding the case. Relations between India and Canada have been tense since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian agents of involvement in Nijjar's death, an accusation India has dismissed as baseless.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar, designated a terrorist by India's National Investigation Agency in 2020, was killed in June 2023 outside a Gurdwara in Surrey. A video of the incident, described as a "contract killing," surfaced in March 2024.
