The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has addressed a misleading image circulating on social media. The image falsely claimed to show Indian migrants being deported from the United States in handcuffs and chains. However, PIB clarified that the image actually depicted individuals deported to Guatemala, not India.
On February 5, a US military aircraft landed in Amritsar, Punjab, carrying 104 Indian nationals who were allegedly living illegally in the US. Some of these individuals also arrived at Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat. Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the deportation issue with US President Donald Trump, emphasizing their friendship as a means to find a solution.
Minister Dhaliwal stated, "Modiji calls Trump his friend. I request PM Modi ji to speak to Trump to find a solution to this issue....104 Indians deported from the US arrived at Amritsar today. Of 104 persons, around 30 people are from Punjab. All of them are in good health condition."
PIB stands for Press Information Bureau. It is an Indian government agency that provides information to the public and media about government policies, programs, and activities.
Deportation means sending someone back to their home country. It usually happens when someone is living in another country without permission or has broken the law.
