Pakistan’s Ruling Party PML-N Criticizes and Offers Talks to Imran Khan’s PTI

Pakistan’s ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), showed mixed reactions towards the opposition party, Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced that the government plans to ban PTI for ‘treason’ due to dissolving the National Assembly during a no-confidence motion in April 2022.

After the Supreme Court pronounced PTI as a parliamentary party on July 12, making it eligible for reserved seats in national and regional assemblies, Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadiq Malik offered to hold talks with PTI. However, days later, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and SAFRON Amir Muqam accused PTI of following a foreign agenda, citing a U.S. resolution in favor of PTI and a bill against Pakistan and China in the U.S. Senate.

PML-N member Irfan Siddiqui urged Imran Khan to admit his alleged crimes, including inciting a military rebellion and attacking military installations on May 9. Siddiqui accused Khan of various actions against the military, including burning air force planes and mocking martyrs.

Later, Federal Minister Musadiq Malik denied offering peace talks with PTI, stating that PML-N had already given PTI plenty of chances in the past.
