In Balochistan, Pakistan, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, known as Paank, has expressed serious concerns about the disappearance of 11 people from Pasni between February 8 and February 10, 2025. Paank claims these individuals were abducted by Pakistani security forces, continuing a troubling pattern of human rights violations in the area.
On February 8, 2025, two brothers, Naseem and Washdil, sons of Pathan, were taken from the Chakuli Kulanch region of Gwadar. Naseem was known for his Facebook page, Chakuli Musam, which provided weather updates. On February 10, nine more individuals were reported missing from various wards in Pasni, including Maqbool Akram, Saleem Raza, Naseeb Suwali, Fasail Suwali, Sajid Suwali, Ali Baloch, Ahmed Raza, and Saleh Riaz.
Paank has urged the Pakistani government to release those who have been forcibly disappeared and to hold accountable those responsible for these unlawful detentions. They emphasize the importance of adhering to international human rights obligations, such as the United Nations Convention Against Enforced Disappearances and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which Pakistan is committed to.
Paank calls on international human rights organizations, the United Nations, and civil society groups to pressure Pakistani authorities to stop the ongoing crisis of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. They demand an end to abductions, arbitrary detentions, and extrajudicial disappearances.
Paank is the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement. They work to protect and promote human rights in the Balochistan region.
