In preparation for the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) carried out a joint mock drill at Prayagraj Junction. The exercise took place on Platforms 1 and 6, involving the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP).
The drill simulated a terrorist hostage situation in the station director's office on Platform 1 and a train on Platform 6. The RPF and GRP quickly evacuated the areas and secured the premises. The NSG and ATS were then called in to handle the situation. On Platform 1, one "terrorist" was arrested, and hostages were rescued. On Platform 6, three "terrorists" were neutralized, and passengers were safely evacuated. Weapons, including pistols and AK-47 rifles, were seized.
Senior officials, such as Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Vijay Prakash Pandit and SP Abhishek Yadav, supervised the drill. The exercise demonstrated the readiness and coordination of security forces to ensure safety at Prayagraj Junction.
The Maha Kumbh, celebrated every 12 years, is expected to attract over 45 crore devotees. Key bathing rituals will occur on January 14, January 29, and February 3.
