Professor Kalimullah mentioned that groups like Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Hefazat-e-Islam have strengthened their positions. Outlawed organizations such as Hizb ut-Tahrir are also visibly active, distributing leaflets and holding public events despite being banned.
Incident at Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Residence
On February 5, a mob vandalized the residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which is now a museum. The mob, reportedly demanding a ban on the Awami League, caused significant damage, including setting fire to parts of the house and destroying portraits of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The protest was linked to an online speech by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, with social media posts calling for a "Bulldozer Procession" if she spoke. By late evening, protestors had broken into the property, causing widespread destruction.
