In a significant move to enhance India's border security, the Border Security Force (BSF) of India and Mongolia's General Authority for Border Protection (GABP) have agreed to conduct specialized training for BSF officers. This training, focusing on border management in mountainous regions, was decided during the 10th Director General level talks held in New Delhi from February 2 to February 7.
The training aims to equip BSF officers with advanced skills for handling challenges in high-altitude areas. It will include tactical expertise, survival strategies, and modern surveillance techniques, followed by a joint exercise to apply the learned skills in real-world scenarios. Mongolia's GABP, with its extensive experience in managing rugged borders, is an ideal partner for this initiative.
According to a communique from the BSF, discussions also covered Special Force Training (SFT) for GABP by BSF instructors in Mongolia. The two forces agreed to extend mutual cooperation in crime prevention, technological solutions, and best practices in border protection, including security of border ports and vehicle inspections.
The meeting, led by BSF chief Daljit Singh Chawdhary and Major General Lkhagvasuren KH of GABP, was held in a friendly atmosphere. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation, acknowledging shared challenges in border management. The next DG Level talks are scheduled for September 2025 in Mongolia.
The Border Security Force (BSF) is a paramilitary force in India responsible for guarding the country's land borders during peace time and preventing transnational crime.
