Navratri Celebrations: Security Tightened at Kalika Temple in Nashik

The Maharashtra Police have put in place extensive security measures at the Kalika Temple Devasthan in Nashik for the Navratri festival. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ravindra Kumar Chavan, announced that around 100 police officers will be on duty around the clock, with some in plain clothes. Over 100 CCTV cameras have been installed, and emergency services like fire brigade and ambulances are on standby. The police helpline 112 will be operational 24/7 to assist the thousands of devotees visiting daily.

Across India, devotees are celebrating the nine-day Sharadiya Navratri festival by visiting temples to offer prayers to Goddess Durga, also known as Shakti. In Madhya Pradesh, prayers were offered at the Kali Temple in Bhopal, while in Uttarakhand, devotees visited the Mata Vaishno Devi Gufa Mandir in Dehradun. Rajasthan saw prayers at the Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir in Jaipur, and in West Bengal, devotees flocked to the Nimtala Ghat Mata Temple in Kolkata.

In Uttar Pradesh, devotees visited several temples, including the Kali Bari Temple in Lucknow and the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar. In Delhi, the Shri Kalka Ji Temple and Jhandewala Devi Mandir were popular spots for worship. Punjab’s Durgiana Temple in Amritsar also saw many visitors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the nation, wishing everyone a happy Navratri. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also sent his best wishes, announcing free bus services for devotees traveling to Dongargarh for the darshan of Maa Bamleshwari.
