Namrata S Kumar has been named the next Ambassador of India to Latvia, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). She is currently serving as India's Ambassador to Slovenia and is expected to assume her new role soon.
Namrata S Kumar joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1997. Her diplomatic career includes serving in Cairo, Egypt (1999-2002), Paris, France (2007-2011), and as Deputy Chief of Mission in the United Arab Emirates (2011-2014). At the MEA in New Delhi, she has worked in the Disarmament, Central Europe, and Archives & Records Management Divisions.
Before her current role in Slovenia, Kumar was the Deputy Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) from 2015 to 2020. She also served on deputation to the State Government of Uttarakhand, where she held positions such as Additional Secretary for Rural Development and Education, and Director of the State Literacy Mission.
