Mardan [Pakistan], August 11: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), spoke at a farmers’ convention and criticized the Pakistani government for failing to revive the economy. He claimed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif did not fulfill his promises and that the economy is in such poor condition that the next government will struggle to improve it.

Rehman also mentioned that China has expressed concerns about investing in Pakistan and advised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to improve the situation first. He warned that the objectives of the US and Western countries are not in Pakistan’s best interests and that the current instability could harm the country further.

According to a recent study by Pulse Consultant, financial difficulties for urban Pakistani households have increased by 14% over the past year. Currently, 74% of the urban population cannot meet their monthly expenses with their current income, a significant rise from 60% in May 2023. Many households have had to cut back on essential expenses, borrow money, or take on part-time jobs to make ends meet.
