The mayor of Ma'ale Adumim, a town in Judea, Israel, has announced the renaming of a large area of municipal land to "Trump One" (T1) in honor of US President Donald Trump. This decision was made by Mayor Guy Yifrach, who sees Trump's second term as a chance to strengthen Jewish communities, particularly in Judea and Samaria.
The 4,000-acre area, previously known as E1 or Mevaseret Adumim, is within Ma'ale Adumim's municipal boundaries and is part of Area C, where Israel has administrative and security control. Plans for over 3,000 homes to address housing shortages have faced international opposition, including from the Biden administration.
Mayor Yifrach described T1 as a "strategic asset" and urged Israeli leaders to create territorial continuity between Ma'ale Adumim and Jerusalem. Under Israeli-Palestinian agreements, Israel maintains full control over Area C.
Trump also has a Golan community named after him, Ramat Trump, following his recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights in 2019. Israeli leaders have praised Trump's executive orders reversing Biden administration sanctions on Judea and Samaria residents, cutting funds to the UNRWA, and re-imposing sanctions on International Criminal Court officials.
