Lieutenant General Batoo Tshering's Visit to India
Lieutenant General Batoo Tshering, the Chief Operations Officer of the Royal Bhutan Army, is on a six-day official visit to India from February 1-6. His visit aims to strengthen military cooperation between India and Bhutan.
Guard of Honour and Tributes
On Monday, General Tshering received a Guard of Honour at South Block in New Delhi, where he was welcomed by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. He also paid tribute to fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
Meetings and Visits
During his visit, General Tshering will meet with key Indian officials, including the Chief of the Army Staff, National Security Advisor, Chief of Defence Staff, Defence Secretary, and Foreign Secretary. He will also visit important military institutes like the National Security Guard in Manesar and the Defence Image Processing and Analysis Centre.
Visit to Kolkata
General Tshering will travel to Kolkata to visit the Eastern Command Headquarters of the Indian Army. He will lay a wreath at the Vijay Samarak and meet with the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command.
Strengthening Ties
The Ministry of Defence stated that this visit will enhance the strategic relationship between India and Bhutan, paving the way for continued collaboration on mutual interests.
Previous Royal Visit
In December, Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck visited India. They met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional issues. PM Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to supporting Bhutan's development.
