1st India-Arab Universities' Presidents' Conference Held in New Delhi
The first-ever India-Arab Universities' Presidents' Conference took place in New Delhi from February 5-6, 2025. This event was organized under the education vertical of the Executive Program for implementing the Memorandum of Cooperation between India and the League of Arab States (LAS).
Organizers and Keynote Speakers
The Ministry of External Affairs, in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the League of Arab States, hosted the conference at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan. Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, inaugurated the event and delivered the keynote address. Libya's Minister of Education, Imran Muhamed Al-Qeeb, represented the Arab side with a special address.
Sessions and Discussions
The conference featured four sessions focusing on higher education and skill development cooperation, innovative academic cooperation, mutual recognition of degrees, and joint scientific research. A breakout session between universities and a session on faculty and student exchange were also conducted.

The UGC Secretary chaired the closing ceremony, delivering the valedictory address. The conference aimed to strengthen cooperation in higher education between India and the Arab world, providing a platform for exchanging ideas and laying the groundwork for future collaboration.
