Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], October 2: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, claiming that Nathuram Godse is their leader. He urged people to oppose the BJP’s alleged plans to shape India according to Godse’s ideology.

Speaking at the Gandhi Bharat program organized by KPCC at Bharath Jodo Bhavan, Siddaramaiah commemorated the 100th anniversary of the AICC meeting in Belagavi chaired by Mahatma Gandhi. He emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi represents the conscience of India, which is a higher authority than any court, and urged people to act according to their conscience.

“Gandhiji is the conscience of India. His body can be destroyed, but his ideals can’t be. Godse is the leader for the BJP. Let us all join together to defeat the conspiracy of the BJP to make India according to Godse’s ideology. The Belagavi AICC meeting chaired by Mahatma Gandhi is historically significant. Gandhi is a rare saint the world has ever seen. He is the pride of India,” Siddaramaiah said.

He further added, “Gandhiji is India’s soul; it’s conscience. We should never give opportunity to communal forces to turn India into Godse’s India. Community forces will hinder the development. Whenever the BJP was in power, they tried to divide society on the basis of caste and religion. They never implemented pro-people programs.”

Siddaramaiah highlighted his government’s efforts to implement guarantee schemes for all castes, creeds, and religions, despite facing false rumors spread by opponents. At the Gandhi Jayanti program at Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi, he quoted Mahatma Gandhi, stating that the court of conscience is above all courts and urged people to act according to their conscience.

“Gandhiji and Ambedker’s aspirations cannot be fulfilled merely by speeches. The government needs to propagate their values and messages among the public and simultaneously has to implement programs to create an equal and equitable society. Our government is working in this direction,” he added.

During the Gandhi Jayanti and Swachchata Andolan oath-taking ceremony at Banquet hall Vidhanasoudha, Siddaramaiah announced that Gandhiji’s Sarvodaya and Ambedker’s Antyodaya are their motto. He praised Gandhi’s efforts in understanding the plight of rural India and leading the freedom movement until India gained independence.

Born in Porbandar, Gujarat, on October 2, 1869, Gandhi was a key figure in the Indian independence movement against British rule. He advocated for non-violent protest and civil disobedience to achieve social and political change. His leadership was crucial in India achieving independence in 1947. Gandhi’s legacy continues to inspire people worldwide, promoting peace, tolerance, and social justice.
