Tel Aviv, Israel – October 2: Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has extended his wishes for the Jewish New Year, expressing confidence that it will be a year of ‘total victory.’ In a post on X, Netanyahu stated, ‘It will be a year of total victory. Happy New Year to the people of Israel.’

Netanyahu also shared a video message on X, addressing the ongoing conflict with what he termed ‘Iran’s axis of evil.’ He emphasized that Iran aims to destroy Israel but assured that this will not happen. ‘We will stand together, and with God’s help, we will win together,’ he said.

Earlier, Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the families of Israeli soldiers who lost their lives in Lebanon. He reiterated Israel’s commitment to returning abducted citizens and ensuring the nation’s security.

On the same day, Netanyahu held a meeting with security officials at the Kirya in Tel Aviv to discuss the escalating situation. This meeting followed Iran’s launch of nearly 200 ballistic missiles towards Israel.

Amid these tensions, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maria Zakharova highlighted the United Nations General Assembly’s broad consensus for an immediate ceasefire, noting that only the US and Israel oppose it.

Netanyahu responded to Iran’s missile strikes by stating that Iran made a ‘big mistake’ and would ‘pay for it.’ The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have urged Lebanese civilians in southern Lebanon to evacuate due to Hezbollah’s activities. The IDF has destroyed over 150 terrorist infrastructure sites, including Hezbollah’s headquarters and weapon storage facilities.
