The Houthis have launched over 200 missiles and 170 drones at Israel since October 7, with most being intercepted. They have also threatened and attacked ships in the Red Sea, including hijacking the MV Galaxy Leader in November 2023.
The Houthis, backed by Iran, pose a threat to ships passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Straits, a critical maritime route for global oil transport.
