The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal, organized a special event on Friday to celebrate Vishwa Hindi Diwas. The event took place at the Embassy premises and included participation from several schools in Kathmandu. Students showcased their talents through Hindi poetry recitations and skits, presenting powerful poems on various thought-provoking themes.
Artists from Nepal Pragya Pratisthaan also joined the celebration. Gitanjali Brandon, the Counsellor (Political and PIC) at the Indian Embassy, highlighted the cultural and linguistic connections between India and Nepal. She stated, "Language binds two societies and nations. Hindi has always broken geographical barriers and united different cultures."
Brandon also shared a message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the importance of World Hindi Day in celebrating the rich linguistic heritage and cultural identity of Hindi speakers. She expressed gratitude to Hindi enthusiasts and scholars in Nepal for their contributions to strengthening the bond between the two nations.
The event also featured the India-Nepal Maitri Kavi Sammelan, where distinguished poets recited Hindi poetry, captivating the audience. Notable attendees included Mangal Prasad Gupta, Member of Parliament and President of Hindi Manch Nepal; Gopal Thakur, Chairman of the Language Commission, Government of Nepal; and Nisha Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Nepal Music and Drama Pragyana Pratishthan.
