Israel Stops Huge Weapon Shipment from Iran to Palestinian Groups
In a significant security operation, Israel has intercepted a large shipment of weapons from Iran intended for Palestinian terror groups. The announcement was made by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The weapons were meant for terror cells in the Jenin area and included a variety of explosive devices and guns.
Details of the Seized Weapons
The seized shipment contained 40 large Claymore charges, 33 homemade variants, wireless operating systems, and various rockets, including 107mm and RPG-18 types. Additionally, 24 RPG-22 rockets, 2 mortar canisters, and 7 Hunter sniper rifles were found, along with dozens of pistols and M16s.
Source of the Weapons
The shipment was traced back to two Iranian units: Section 4000, the special operations division of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards led by Jawad Ghafari, and a Quds Force unit operating from Syria under Athar Bakri's command. Iranian operatives have been smuggling weapons through the Jordan Valley due to its proximity to Syria and Lebanon.
Ongoing Efforts to Combat Terrorism
In August, the IDF launched an operation to dismantle terror infrastructure in northern Samaria and the Jordan Valley, where most weapons are directed.
