Indore Collector Asheesh Singh Reports Six Child Deaths Due to Suspected Food Poisoning

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, six children have died and 53 others are sick due to suspected food poisoning at Shri Yugpurush Dham Baudhik Vikas Kendra. Indore Collector Asheesh Singh reported that all affected children are being treated at Government Chacha Nehru Hospital.

Investigation and Findings

A high-level committee, including IAS officers and private doctors, was formed to investigate the incident. The interim report revealed flaws in child care at the institution. A show cause notice has been issued to the institution, demanding a reply within three days.

Details of the Incident

The death toll includes one unreported death on June 29. The total number of sick children admitted to Chacha Nehru Hospital has increased to 53, with 13 expected to be discharged soon.

Another Incident of Illness

In a separate case, 50 army aspirants staying in hostels of a private coaching academy in Indore fell ill due to suspected water infection. Most were treated in the hostel, while a few were admitted to MY Hospital. All students are stable.

Preventive Measures

Collector Singh has ordered the collection of water samples across the district, including community kitchens and tiffin services, for investigation. The Municipal Corporation team and food safety officers will issue notices if any irregularities are found.
