India's Commitment at 24th BIMSTEC Senior Officials Meeting Chaired by Thailand
The 24th BIMSTEC Senior Officials Meeting was held virtually, hosted by Thailand. Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) from India's Ministry of External Affairs, represented India. The meeting reviewed progress since March 2023 and discussed cooperation in areas like sustainable development, connectivity, and security.
Several documents were finalized regarding action plans and new cooperation mechanisms. The Indian delegation emphasized India's commitment to BIMSTEC's vision for a prosperous region. Thailand's Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Paisan Rupanichkij, chaired the session, with Nepal represented by Acting Foreign Secretary Amrit Rai.
Earlier, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted India's dedication to BIMSTEC, aligning with policies like Neighbourhood First and Act East. The focus was on enhancing connectivity and cooperation in health, trade, and energy.
