Nepal's Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithivi Subba Gurung, emphasized Nepal's progress in IT and the strong ties with India. He encouraged Nepali startups to join SMK 2025. India's Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, highlighted the growth of digital technologies and cross-border collaborations, citing the interoperability between Nepal's FonePay and India's UPI.
Sanjiv Singh from DPIIT presented SMK 2025, which will feature over 3,000 exhibitors and 10,000 startups. The event will showcase innovations in sectors like Fintech, AI, and Agritech. Umesh Kumar Gupta from IEDI discussed Nepal's startup policy, while Rajendra Mootha from IIT Madras Pravartak shared insights on technology incubation.
The first panel focused on opportunities for tech startups in India and Nepal, with speakers like Prashant Mishra from TechXR and Asgar Ali from F1 Soft. The second panel discussed Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for social impact, featuring insights from Sixit Bhatta of Vriddhi Sanjal Pvt Ltd and Neelesh Man Pradhan of Nepal Clearing House Limited.
The event concluded with calls for increased collaboration between India and Nepal in the startup sector, leveraging existing connections and resources.
