The 10th meeting of the India-EU Energy Panel was held in Brussels, focusing on energy transition priorities and reviewing the achievements of the India-EU Clean Energy and Climate Partnership 2021-2024. The meeting, which took place on November 21, was co-chaired by Tanmaya Lal from India's Ministry of External Affairs and Ditte Juul Jorgensen from the European Commission.
Representatives from India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Ministry of Power, along with the EU's Directorate General for Energy and Directorate General for Climate Action, participated in the meeting. They completed joint initiatives involving technical cooperation in 51 activities across nine sectors.
The meeting highlighted the framework for green hydrogen cooperation, including policy collaboration between India and the EU. The EU participated in the International Conference on Green Hydrogen 2024 in India, while India joined the European Hydrogen Week 2024 as an exclusive partner.
India and the EU committed to long-term research support for clean energy projects under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council Working Group on Clean and Green Technologies, established in January 2023. They adopted the Work Plan for the 3rd Phase of the India-EU Clean Energy and Climate Partnership (2025-2028), focusing on green hydrogen, offshore wind, regional connectivity, electricity market integration, smart grids, energy efficiency, and energy and climate diplomacy.
The Panel welcomed the EU's participation in the International Solar Alliance and reiterated cooperation with the International Energy Agency, agreeing to engage closely on clean energy within the G20 framework.
