On January 18, Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) launched a new project in collaboration with the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD) to promote human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Pakistan. The project, titled "Human Rights Documentation, Fact Findings, and Advocacy for the Marginalized," was introduced at an orientation session in Faisalabad's Vision Hall.
The session gathered human rights defenders, community leaders, and civil society representatives to discuss the project's objectives and strategies. The project aims to conduct monthly meetings to address challenges, share updates, and monitor progress. These meetings will also provide legal support and strengthen advocacy efforts.
Naveed Walter, President of HRFP, emphasized the importance of the project in advancing human rights and democracy. He highlighted the role of the HRD's Network in leading activities and ensuring the achievement of planned results.
The project will form fact-finding teams to document human rights violations and engage with decision-makers to resolve issues. The HRFP also operates the REAT Helpline, which addresses complaints related to religious freedom and other human rights concerns.
Participants, including HRDs like Nusrat Samuel and Manzoor Anthony, stressed the need for collaboration to address human rights violations and promote democratic values. The project aims to contribute to the UN Agenda 2030 by achieving sustainable development goals.
