Due to heavy rainfall in the Narmadapuram and Bhopal regions, five gates each of Tawa Dam and Bhadbhada Dam were opened on Friday. Tawa Dam is built on the Tawa River in Narmadapuram District, while Bhadbhada Dam is built on Bada Talab (upper lake) in Bhopal.
N K Suryavanshi, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Tawa Dam Project, stated, "There was heavy rainfall in the catchment area of the Tawa dam, in the Pachmarhi region. Water from a dam located at Sarni was released in the morning following which, seeing the inflow of water and maintaining the governing level, five gates of Tawa Dam were opened." This was the first time the gates were opened this season.
The full tank level of Bhadbhada Dam is 1666.80 feet, and the water level reached this mark, leading to the opening of its five gates to manage the excess water.
According to the meteorological office, very heavy rain with lightning is likely to occur over Raisen, Narmadapuram/Pachmarhi, along with heavy rain with lightning over Bhopal, Vidisha, Harda, Sehore, Betul, and Chhindwara districts in the forenoon hours. Moderate rain is expected over Rajgarh, Pandhurna, Narsinghpur, West Sagar, Dewas, Agarmalwa, Shajapur, Shivpuri, Seoni, Umaria, and Anuppur districts, with light rain over several other districts including Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Indore, and Khandwa.
