The Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, arrived in New Delhi for his first official visit to India. During his visit, Yermekbayev is scheduled to meet with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh. He will also address the Indian Council of World Affairs and lay a wreath at Rajghat.
Earlier, EAM S Jaishankar signed eight outcome documents at the 23rd SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad. He highlighted India's global initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, which are relevant to the SCO. Jaishankar also emphasized the importance of digital public infrastructure and women-led development.
The EAM stressed the need for fair connectivity projects that align with international law and the goals of the UN and SCO Charters. India's initiatives like the SCO Startup Forum and Mission LiFE were welcomed by SCO members, aiming to achieve sustainable development goals.
