Gautam Singhania Highlights Restoration Opportunities in India

Gautam Singhania, the Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond and the Founder of the Super Car Club of India, has identified a significant opportunity for restoration work in India. Speaking at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Singhania emphasized the potential for growth in this sector due to India's labor-intensive nature.

Opportunities in Restoration

Singhania explained that the rising labor costs and scarcity of labor in foreign countries present a chance for India to excel in car restoration and mechanical work. He compared this opportunity to the shift of the textile and engineering industries to India from Europe. Singhania has discussed this potential with the government, hoping for positive developments.

India's Economic Potential

Expressing his optimism about the Indian economy, Singhania highlighted the country's vibrant market of 1.4 billion people and high consumption levels as reasons for his positive outlook.

Super Car Club Garage Initiative

Singhania also spoke about the Super Car Club Garage (SCCG), which started in 2007 as a small group of car enthusiasts and has grown into a major movement. The latest event attracted over 250,000 attendees and set a record with 580 vehicles, including supercars, superbikes, vintage cars, and more.

Regulatory Challenges

SCCG, supported by Singhania, is seeking government approval to import foreign vehicles for restoration and re-export. Current regulations only allow the import of cars manufactured before 1950, limiting restoration work for international vehicles.
