On Thursday, Punjab's Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, inaugurated the Anti-Narcotics Task Force's (ANTF) new Support Services Unit (SSU) at their headquarters. The event was attended by Special DGP ANTF Kuldeep Singh, Special DGP Internal Security RN Dhoke, ADGP ANTF Nilabh Kishore, and ADGP Anti-Gangster Task Force Promod Ban.
The new unit is equipped with advanced technology and intelligence capabilities, enhancing ANTF's ability to fight drug-related issues in Punjab. DGP Yadav highlighted that the unit focuses on analyzing drug data, communications, financial transactions, and trafficking profiles, thus boosting ANTF's precision and effectiveness.
This development follows the recent inauguration of ANTF's Intelligence and Technical Unit (SITU), which cost Rs 11 crore and is designed for detailed analysis of drug-related activities. The Support Services Unit, costing Rs 1.28 crore, includes modern facilities and infrastructure to improve ANTF's operational efficiency.
Earlier this year, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann allocated Rs 14.6 crores to enhance ANTF's capabilities, with Rs 11 crores for technical upgrades and Rs 3 crores for physical infrastructure improvements.
