Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Feels Unwell During Rally in Kathua

On Sunday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge felt unwell while addressing a rally in the Jasrota area of Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. He was paying tribute to a head constable killed in an anti-terror operation. Kharge was discharged from a hospital after feeling slightly unwell due to extreme heat.

Congress leader Thakur Balbir Singh explained, “He felt suffocated due to the extreme heat and still he completed his speech. He will take some rest and then leave for another programme in Ramnagar.”

After resting, Kharge reassured the crowd about his health, saying, “I am 83 years old, I am not going to die so early. I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power.” He also criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing them of operating a remote-controlled government via the Lieutenant Governor.

Kharge’s son, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, shared on X that his father is doing well apart from slightly low blood pressure. “His resolve, along with people’s good wishes, keeps him going strong,” he posted.

Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are being held in three phases. The final phase is scheduled for October 1, with vote counting on October 8. These are the first elections since the abrogation of Article 370.
