On February 4, the Embassy of India in Nepal hosted a special banquet in Kathmandu to celebrate the 77th Indian Army Day. This day honors the appointment of Lieutenant General KM Cariappa as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on January 15, 1949.
The event was graced by Prasiddha Prabal Janasewa Shree General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief of Army Staff of the Nepali Army and Honorary General of the Indian Army, as the Chief Guest. The gathering also included former Army Chiefs of Nepal, serving and retired Army officers, diplomats, government officials, and media representatives.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, highlighted the strong bond between the Indian and Nepali armies, emphasizing the kinship between the two nations. He expressed gratitude for the Gorkha soldiers' service in the Indian Army and reaffirmed India's commitment to the welfare of Indian Army pensioners and their families in Nepal.
General Ashok Raj Sigdel extended his best wishes to General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, and the entire Indian Army fraternity. He praised the close relationship between the two armies and acknowledged the Indian Army's support in skill development for the Nepali Army. General Sigdel also honored the brave Gorkha soldiers of the Indian Army.
