Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu Team Up for Wimbledon Mixed Doubles
Andy Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion, will join forces with Emma Raducanu in this year’s mixed doubles event at Wimbledon. Both players have received a wild card entry for the competition, which begins on Friday.
Murray had to withdraw from the singles draw due to a back injury but will also participate in the men’s doubles event with his brother Jamie. Raducanu has already advanced to the second round of the singles competition.
Raducanu expressed her admiration for Murray’s dedication and preparation, saying, “I think the biggest advice is just how he’s always taken care of his operations, how he manages his people. I haven’t really spoken to him so much.” She added, “I think for me it’s just like watching him operate day to day, watching him be absolutely on it with everything. Even in practice now, he’s so on it to the minute.”
Their first opponents in the mixed doubles will be Marcelo Arevalo and Zhang Shuai. They are in the same part of the draw as top seeds Matthew Ebden and Ellen Perez. Defending champions Lyudmyla Kichenok and Mate Pavic, as well as second seeds Erin Routliffe and Michael Venus, are also notable competitors in the draw.
