The Al Ain Dates Festival has started in the city of Al Ain, UAE, under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister. The festival, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, will run until January 8. On the first day, the festival received 2,025 kilograms of dates from 27 participants in the "Elite Al Ain" competition. Additionally, 600 boxes, totaling 2,000 kilograms, were presented for a date auction. The event features seven date competitions, each focusing on a different variety, with 70 prizes worth AED 1.756 million up for grabs.
The opening ceremony was attended by Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, and Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, along with other dignitaries and prominent figures.
Visitors can enjoy a vibrant date auction, explore date shops, and experience a traditional market, all while learning about UAE traditions and cultural practices.
