Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei Blames US and Europe for West Asia Problems, Israel Responds to Missile Attack

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has accused the United States and European nations of being the root cause of conflicts in West Asia. Speaking to Iranian elites and top students in Tehran, he claimed that these nations’ actions lead to wars and hostilities in the region.

Khamenei cited the example of Iraq’s former dictator Saddam Hussein, whose actions, he said, were provoked by these nations, resulting in difficult situations. He noted that after Saddam’s death, Iran and Iraq’s relationship improved, especially during events like the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

He also expressed sorrow over the death of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, calling it a significant event and promising to address Lebanon’s situation soon.

The situation in West Asia worsened after Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. The United States military coordinated with the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) to defend against the attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Iran’s missile attack a ‘big mistake’ and vowed that Tehran would pay for it.

IDF spokesperson RAdm. Daniel Hagari described the attack as a ‘severe and dangerous escalation’ and warned of consequences. The IDF urged Lebanese civilians in southern Lebanon to evacuate due to Hezbollah’s activities, promising to update them when it is safe to return.

Following the attack, IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Herzi Halevi spoke with Centcom Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla about the situation.
