The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at a residence in Panihati, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, on suspicion of links to a Maoist organization. The raid took place early Tuesday morning and involved four members of the authorities along with central forces. The house, located in the Pallishree area under Ward No 31 of Panihati Municipality, was surrounded by local police and central forces.

According to the NIA, the woman and her husband residing in the house are allegedly associated with Maoist organizations. NIA officials entered the house, showed legal documents, and asked the woman to cooperate in the investigation. Simultaneous search operations are being conducted in Asansol and Panihati areas of the state.

Earlier, on September 29, the NIA conducted searches in the Amabeda area of North Bastar district, Chhattisgarh, in connection with the killing of an Indian Army personnel by CPI (Maoist) terrorists. The searches covered several locations belonging to 11 suspects in villages like Useli, Gumjhir, Badetevda, Umarkumta, and Amabeda. Items such as air guns, mobile phones, printers, laptops, hard discs, DVRs, motorcycles, incriminating documents, and Rs 66,500 in cash were seized.
