On July 23, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose described the Union Budget 2024-25 as pro-people and a golden opportunity for the Bengal government to use the funds effectively. He emphasized that the budget is youth-friendly and should not be diverted for unauthorized purposes.
However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the budget, calling it politically motivated, directionless, and anti-people. She accused the budget of being biased and not addressing the needs of common people, especially those in Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
