Voting in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir: SSP Divya D Ensures Smooth Polling
In Sopore city of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, security arrangements have been made for the third phase of Assembly polls. SSP Sopore Divya D stated that everything is going smoothly with voting starting at 7 am. She mentioned, ‘Our security arrangements are in place. Our officers are also present on the ground, so everything is going smoothly. People are coming out in large numbers to vote and we are expecting more participation than previous elections.’
As of 9 am, the cumulative voter turnout was 11.60%, with Udhampur district recording the highest turnout at 14.23%, followed by Samba at 13.31%. Other districts’ turnouts included Bandipore at 11.64%, Baramulla at 8.89%, Jammu at 11.46%, Kathua at 13.09%, and Kupwara at 11.27%.
The third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections began at 7 am, covering 40 constituencies in seven districts. Voting will conclude at 6 pm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged voters, especially first-time and women voters, to participate in the ‘festival of democracy.’
