The Uttar Pradesh Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (Preliminary) Examination-2024 started on Sunday, with candidates arriving at various centers across the state, including Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Agra. This year, a new security measure has been introduced, requiring candidates to undergo biometric verification, including iris and eye scans, before entering the exam centers.

An official at one of the exam centers stated that biometric and thumb tests are being conducted to prevent impersonation. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is conducting the PCS exam at 1,331 centers across all 75 districts, with 576,154 candidates registered. The exam is held in two shifts: the first from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the second from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. In Lucknow, 64 centers, including the National PG College, are hosting the exam. A ban on electronic gadgets is in place at all centers.
