The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department organized the ‘Bodhi Yatra’ conclave in New Delhi to celebrate the journey of Lord Buddha. The event showcased Uttar Pradesh’s importance as a Buddhist pilgrimage site and its tourism potential.

Important officials attended the event, including Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh, and ambassadors from countries like Singapore, Thailand, and Myanmar. Members of the International Buddhist Council, academicians, and travel writers were also present.

Event Highlights

The event began with a presentation on Uttar Pradesh’s six major Buddhist sites: Sankisa, Sarnath, Shravasti, Kapilvastu, Kaushambi, and Kushinagar. Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra welcomed everyone and highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s top spot in domestic tourism.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat praised the efforts to promote the Buddha Circuit, emphasizing India’s message of truth and non-violence. Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh spoke about the state’s rich Buddhist heritage and efforts to attract pilgrims.

Round Table Discussion

A discussion was held to explore strategies for promoting these historical sites and attracting foreign tourists. The event concluded with a cultural show depicting Lord Buddha’s life and the significance of the Buddhist Circuit.
