This information was shared by a US official who preferred to remain anonymous. The Pentagon has also started providing flights to deport over 5,000 immigrants held in US facilities in El Paso, Texas, and San Diego, California. Previously, military aircraft have transported migrants to countries like Guatemala, Peru, and Honduras.
Military flights are an expensive method for deportation. A recent flight to Guatemala reportedly cost at least USD 4,675 per migrant. On January 24, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in India stated its willingness to facilitate the return of Indian nationals overstaying or residing without proper documentation in the US or elsewhere. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized India's stance against illegal immigration due to its links to organized crime.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the largest deportation operation in history is underway. She highlighted that the Trump Administration has deported hundreds of illegal immigrant criminals using military aircraft. President Trump has made it clear that illegal entry into the US will result in severe consequences. During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump promised to declare a national emergency to carry out mass deportations, a promise he began fulfilling shortly after taking office on January 20.
