Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Leads Rescue Efforts Amid Severe Flooding

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is giving top priority to rescue and relief operations as heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding across various districts in the state over the past three days. He is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with different departments and rescue teams.

Chief Minister Saha stated, “I have information that there is a depression in the Bay of Bengal, which has led to significant rainfall and flooding in almost every district. I have been monitoring the situation from Delhi.”

He added, “I talked to every concerned department and reviewed the flood situation. Heavy rain occurred in Tripura, and I had never seen this kind of rain before. Many rivers have risen above the danger level.”

The Chief Minister informed that 321 relief camps are currently operating in the state, housing around 30,000 people. He emphasized that the priority is to rescue people from unsafe areas and provide them with food, health, and hygiene. One NDRF team from Assam has already arrived, and four more teams from Arunachal Pradesh are expected soon.

“The priority is to bring back people from unsafe places to safe locations and provide them with food. We will look into the restoration process after the rain lessens,” he said. He also mentioned that the agricultural sector has suffered significant damage.

Chief Minister Saha shared on social media, “In the last two days, heavy rains have caused flooding in various districts. The administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations with the highest priority. The state government is regularly informing the central government about the flood situation.”

He added, “Citizens are being rushed to safe shelters from vulnerable areas, especially along river banks. The administration is fully on the side of the people; I appeal to the people not to listen to unnecessary rumours. We need patience and courage to stand next to the affected people. Let’s pray for everyone’s well-being.”

Chief Minister Saha also mentioned that the South district recorded 375 mm of rainfall. He spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured him of all possible support during this crisis. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Tripura for the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
