Tragic Loss in Kiryat Shmona: Revital Yehud and Dvir Sharvit Killed in Rocket Attack
In a heartbreaking incident, Revital Yehud, 45, and Dvir Sharvit, 43, lost their lives in a rocket attack on Kiryat Shmona, a city in northern Israel. The couple had moved to the city two years ago and were among the few who stayed despite evacuation orders. Rabbi Igal Tzipori explained that some residents stayed for ideological reasons or due to age.
This attack marked the first civilian casualties since the Israeli Defense Forces began their ground operation in Lebanon on October 1. Hezbollah, a group backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the attack, which involved 20 rockets targeting the mostly evacuated city. Additionally, 40 missiles were fired at the Haifa Bay area, and over 90 rockets were launched at northern communities throughout the day.
The attack caused fires in several buildings, and firefighters worked to control blazes in Safed, Hatzor HaGlilit, and near the Birya forest. The Israel Defense Forces responded with an airstrike on the rocket launcher responsible for the attack.
Following the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, Hezbollah has been launching rockets and drones at northern Israeli communities, resulting in 49 deaths. Over 68,000 residents have been displaced. Israeli officials are demanding Hezbollah’s disarmament and removal from southern Lebanon, in line with UN Security Council resolution 1701, which ended the Second Lebanon War in 2006.
