Supreme Court Questions Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu on Tirupati Prasadam Allegations, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Responds
Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 1: The Supreme Court recently questioned Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for making public allegations about the use of adulterated ghee in the preparation of laddus served as prasadam at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala.
State Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan responded on Tuesday, stating that the judges did not confirm the laddus were unadulterated. He emphasized that the government will investigate violations from the past five years, not just the prasadam issue. Kalyan said, “I think they said in such a way, they never said it was not adulterated. Whatever information they have on their hands; I think they commented on that. Supreme Court judges didn’t say that it was unadulterated, they said there was confusion regarding the date which will be cleared. But our government will take forward the kind of violations that happened in the last 5 years. It is not just about the Prasad issue.”
Speaking on his ‘Prayashchit Diksha’, Kalyan mentioned it is a commitment to the Sanathana Dharma Parikshana Trust. He highlighted that around 219 temples were desecrated in the past 5-6 years, including the vandalism of Lord Ram’s statue in Ramatheertham. He said, “This ‘Prayashchit Diksha’ is the commitment to take forward the Sanathana Dharma Parirakshana Trust, it is very essential. This kind of occurrence should be stopped and addressed differently at a different level.”
The Supreme Court bench, consisting of Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan, criticized CM Naidu for making statements without conclusive proof, stating it could affect the sentiments of many people. They suggested that the Solicitor General assist in deciding whether the state SIT should continue the investigation or if it should be handled by an independent agency.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Dwaraka Tirumala Rao announced that the SIT investigation into the Tirupati Laddu prasadam case will be suspended until October 3, due to the ongoing Supreme Court hearing.
