Sudha Murty Remembers Ratan Tata: A Man of Integrity and Simplicity
New Delhi, October 10: Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty expressed her deep admiration for the late industrialist Ratan Tata, mourning his passing. She described Tata as a man of unparalleled integrity and simplicity, who was deeply compassionate and always concerned about others’ welfare. Murty shared, “I met him, a man of integrity and simplicity, always caring for others and compassionate… I really miss him… I don’t think in my experience I met anyone like him.”
Murty emphasized that Tata’s passing marks the end of an era in her life, leaving a personal void. She highlighted his influence on her understanding of philanthropy, underscoring the deep impact he had on her life and values. “He was a person of integrity; integrity was so important. He was like that. He had enormous patience. He was a simple man… I learn philanthropy in the House of Tata’s only. It’s my personal loss… I feel now vacuumed in my personal life,” she added.
Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away on Wednesday evening. His last rites will be performed with full state honors. The public can pay their respects on Thursday at 10:30 am at the NCPA Lawns at Nariman Point in Mumbai. The final journey will begin at 4 pm, leading to the Prayer Hall at the Worli Crematorium for the final rites.
