SAD Leader Paramjit Singh Sarna Criticizes BJP’s Operation Lotus

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], June 26: Paramjit Singh Sarna, the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Delhi unit, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to weaken regional parties through ‘Operation Lotus’. Sarna challenged the BJP to a debate, stating he could prove his allegations.

This accusation comes amid internal conflicts within SAD, with senior leaders like Parminder Singh Dhindsa and Bibi Jagir Kaur demanding the resignation of party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal after a poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Sukhbir Badal’s wife, defended him, claiming that the majority of SAD leaders support him and accusing BJP of trying to break the party. She stated that out of 117 leaders, only 5 are against Sukhbir Badal.

Rebel leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa held a meeting in Jalandhar to discuss the party’s future, expressing concerns over the election defeat. Bibi Jagir Kaur mentioned that attempts to discuss issues with Sukhbir Badal were ignored, leading to the current dissent.

Daljit Singh Cheema, another SAD leader, emphasized that differences of opinion are normal in a democracy and that the party is analyzing its election performance. He mentioned that Sukhbir Badal had offered to step down if the party wished, but district presidents and constituency incharges refused.

Balwinder Singh Bhundal, a core committee member, stated that 99% of the members support Sukhbir Badal and there is no plan to form an alliance with the BJP in the future.
