RJD MP Misa Bharati Criticizes Bihar Government’s Flood Response
In Patna, Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Misa Bharati criticized the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led government for its handling of the flood situation in Bihar. She accused the government of inaction during the crisis, stating that they only responded when water levels began to recede. Bharati claimed that only opposition leaders and members of the INDIA alliance were actively helping affected people.
Earlier, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected flood-affected areas and reviewed relief efforts. The state has been severely impacted by flooding due to heavy water discharge from the Kosi Barrage in Birpur, following heavy rainfall in Nepal’s catchment areas. Many rivers are at or above danger levels, affecting several districts.
On October 3, residents in Muzaffarpur’s Aurai block were forced to leave their homes due to flooding. Many have set up temporary shelters along roadsides. Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen reported that rising water levels in the Bagmati River and dam breaches in Sitamarhi and Sheohar districts are being monitored.
To aid those affected, community kitchens have been established in the most impacted areas. These kitchens are set up based on community requests to ensure accessibility for those in need.
