Ratan Tata’s Legacy
Born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, Ratan Tata was a prominent businessman and philanthropist. He led Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in 2012. He was also the Chairman of Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two of India’s largest philanthropic trusts. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, in 2008.
