Pune Airport Hosts Tree Planting Event
Commemorating ICAO’s 80th Anniversary
Pune Airport organized a tree planting event on Tuesday in front of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB). The event was part of a nationwide environmental initiative to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The event was attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol.
Theme and Participation
The plantation drive was based on the theme ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ a campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honor mothers and promote environmental conservation. Officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), various airlines, and other airport agencies participated in the event.
AAI’s Green Initiative
AAI has conducted similar drives across its airports in India, planting 80,000 tree saplings to support the green initiative and sustainability efforts in the aviation sector. This initiative highlights AAI’s commitment to fostering a greener environment and reducing the carbon footprint of India’s aviation industry.
