Puja Tomar made history on June 9 by becoming the first Indian woman to win a fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). She defeated Rayanne Dos Santos of Brazil in the Women’s Strawweight category.

Overcoming Challenges

Born in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, Puja faced many challenges. Coming from a humble background, she had to fight societal and familial opposition to pursue her dream. Her mother was her biggest supporter, standing by her despite the family’s disapproval.
