Protests in Balochistan Demand Return of Missing Diljaan Baloch

In Balochistan, Pakistan, a seminar was held in Awaran as part of a sit-in protest demanding the return of Diljaan Baloch, who has been missing for a long time. Organized by his family, the event marked the tenth day of protests outside the Deputy Commissioner's Office. Local residents and activists, including women, participated, condemning enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

Speakers criticized authorities for not addressing the crisis and using intimidation to silence dissent. The Baloch Yakjheti Committee shared on X that speakers, including Sammi Deen Baloch, highlighted the ongoing plight of the Baloch people and condemned the state's failure to fulfill past promises. Previously, the family ended a three-day protest after the district administration promised Diljaan's release, but he remains missing.

Sammi Deen Baloch described enforced disappearances as a campaign to instill fear and silence the Baloch population. She stated that almost every family in Balochistan has been affected, but the repression only strengthens their resistance. Despite suffering, the Baloch people remain determined.

The Frontier Corps of Pakistan reportedly blocked routes to the protest site, threatening drivers. However, participants marched on foot to show solidarity, ensuring a strong turnout. Speakers condemned the state's violations, reminding the audience of the history of suffering, including mutilated bodies and daily reports of disappearances. The seminar concluded with a message that harassment and threats will not deter the Baloch people's fight for justice.
